Walnut and white

Given the opportunity to transform this sub-penthouse in the Mariner’s Landing building on Songhees Road in Vic West, we engaged our design and build expertise to deliver a project that turned a dated 1990’s condo into a bright and beautiful new home for entertaining and relaxing.

Our wonderful clients trusted our vision, and we worked hard to ensure that our focus was on creating a modern aesthetic, balanced with the feel of traditional quality they were after. Entertaining is a large part of their world, and we wanted to open the space up to deliver a large kitchen/bar/patio and view focused section for congregation. We dropped walls, dropped ceilings, rebuilt just about the entire wiring schematic for the condo, and buttoned it all up with minimal changes to plumbing locations (a must for any concrete building).

The result of all the hard work is crowned by a stunning millwork package from our friends at Thomas Philips, incorporating walnut that is horizontally grain matched not just throughout each section of millwork, like the kitchen and the bathrooms, but throughout the whole project. Thus, the grain from the bar continues in the kitchen, which continues through the living area, etc. All of the walnut was sourced from a single tree. Another feature we especially love is the powder room sink, from Kohler. It’s a finely detailed herringbone that is mirrored in the kitchen backsplash tile and the millwork on the gas fireplace in the master bedroom . We could go on, but the pictures tell the story below.
