FreshSpaces was called in to help with this former hoarder-house. The clients had purchased this property, which had considerable hazards both inside and out, with a proliferation of asbestos throughout the drywall. The clients had the house remediated, and discovered some appalling framing, which is when we got the call. The entire front structure of the building was holding on by hopes and prayers, and after running a quick cost analysis, we could see that it was about the same cost to fix the existing framing, as it would be to demolish the front of the house, and put up an entirely new structure, with a vaulted ceiling and a new truss package. While we were at it, the clients also threw in some energy efficiency upgrades, such as high air tightness, and R-38 effective walls.

We tore the entire front of the house down so the only parts remaining were the foundation and the chimney, and re built it all into a beautiful west coast nature inspired home. Extensive use of natural cedar and fir brings a warmth to the home that’s inviting and cosy, while the poured concrete walkway, stairs and rockwork on the foundation tie the home back into the land. The entry has to be one of our favourites we’ve ever done, with a custom door, and fir liner. More interior pics to come, as soon as we can safely enter with our camera great! A huge thanks to our wonderful clients, Mark and Claire!
